This is my first DJI drone, and I was expecting it to be very good — I wasn’t disappointed. The drone has performed flawlessly everywhere I’ve taken it, and the small size along with the compact case makes it easy to transport. The camera is extremely stable. I’m very glad I got the Fly More Combo. Two of the three batteries in my package needed the firmware update that corrects a discharge issue, but the update installed quickly, even while out in the field. In case you were unaware, LiPo batteries need to be discharged to the storage level after a week or so, and these smart batteries do this automatically. But the previous version of the battery firmware wouldn’t self-discharge if stored in the bank charger or the drone itself. This firmware update corrects that issue. I expect that all the batteries in the supply chain will be updated soon.

I purchased the mini 2 to make the most of the impending uk drone law changes coming into effect on the 1st jan 20201. as this quad is less than 250g it will be classified as a C0 drone, meaning simply you are able to fly it in locations that at present you cannot, and others that have older heavier quads will have to fork out 100s of pounds to do a A2 CofC course in order to fly in places that you will he able to with the mini 2! a no brainer!! yes, it doesnt have certain features that the more expensive drones might have, but unless you fly like a numpty you generally wont need then anyhow! a lot of companies that offer the courses are not very happy about the mini 2 giving so much freedom as it affects their revenue stream, so be alert to negative reviews of this fantastic and remarkable bit of kit!!

The main thing to take into consideration is the new legislation regarding drones. The Mini 2 gives you so much more freedom for flying and, in that respect, it delivers, Wow! I know the Mavic Air 2 is highly rated overall by just about all reviews you’ll see but, there’s added restrictions involved, not to mention the added cost.Obviously, it depends on your individual requirements and whether you intend to take the courses to qualify for more advanced flying and/or heavier drones.Anyway, back to the Mini 2. It is definitely worth investing in the fly more combo. It provides you with all you need in the amateur/hobbyist sense. I couldn’t be more happy with this purchase, all things considered. The app. works with no problems at all (I have it installed on Galaxy S10 and the older S7 which I’m using as a dedicated monitor with the controller, that way I can keep the S10 free for checking NATS Drone Assist or Flight Radar 24 if need be).The Mini 2 is a magical little machine. You can’t be disappointed with it, not at this price and with the results it gives you. Sure, it doesn’t have some of the features you might like to have i.e. all round sensors for collision avoidance but, it all comes back to The Drone Code and regulations which in my mind makes this a no-brainer as a choice.Due to the current ongoing lockdown situation, I’ve only been able to fly from my back garden which I can do legally with this drone, following the D.C. of course. So far, I’ve just tried out 4K and 1080 res. and both are impressive, to say the least. There’s plenty of manual settings for iso etc. should the situation require adjustment. I’m so looking forward to be able to get out and about with this dream machine. The stability of the image from the gimbal is brilliant. I could go on and on.I will post a short clip here once I purposefully film a short clip for including in a review like this. I only occasionally post reviews on Amazon but, after 3 weeks of ownership, I felt compelled to give the Mini 2 a shout out about. This clip isn’t especially for the review itself as I haven’t done any aimed for adding to the review on here. It’s obviously not edited but, it does show off some of the quality you can get at this price/spec. bracket. This was the first time I had been out further afield to practice with it, last Sept. 2021. Needless to say, I wouldn’t look at anything else as an alternative in it’s class after a year of ownership. A ridiculously great drone!!

Cracking little drone. Easy to fly. Easy to take with you. Rock steady high quality video and photos. Amazing that something this size and weight performs so well.Combo is the best value just for the extra batteries and the smart-charger. Looking forward to flying it more and taking it places when we are out of lockdown!

I’ve owned a number of drones over the years ranging from DJI Phantoms to big drones such as the DJI Inspire 2. I bought the Mini 2 to replace my Mavic Pro as I wanted a smaller drone that can fit into other bags when travelling. The size of this thing is insane. It’s so small it fits into my RAB jacket pocket.Image quality wise, don’t let the small size out you off! This think take lovely images, both stills and videos.Only negative thing to say which is not an Amazon issue. Was that I was disappointed to not see any drone code leaflets in the box like I’ve seen with previous DJI models. I get the fact that it’s under 250g means it can be flown in more places. But the fact this could be someone’s first drone and there is no literature for them to read and understand the dos and donts was a bit disappointing. But hopefully new drone users will research this before they fly.Overall very pleased with this tiny drone

Mini 2 is DJIs latest consumer product. I already have a Phantom4 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom but this little addition gives really good results and is small enough to take anytime I travel. With the 3 batteries etc it’s really good value. The only downside is no obstacle avoidance or active track but stability in the wind is good. At less than 250 grams it is not necessary to have a CAA operator id etc. There are lots of on-line video reviews to show it’s capabilities. It’s a good build quality with good video and photo results.

First off, there are people complaining about lack of collision sensors. If you are flying safely and professionally you don’t need them. I have been filming with the phantom 4 Pro for a couple of years and phantom 3 before that. I never needed the sensors. Quite often for various reasons I would turn them off before a flight. for example over water at low level where moving surfaces can cause issues or when flying through a close gap.The mini 2 is designed to be under 250g for a reason, look up the new CAA drone categories for 2021 and you will soon realise why.First flight out today with a moderate sea breeze. Nd filter fitted. Wow very impressive.Footage is very nice. Very little noise in the image at base iso.2x zoom is noisier but very very handy and a bit of denoise during the edit should help. The mini 2 was very stable and no gimble issues even with the ND filter fitted.Didn’t test the range for legal reasons but being small it’s hard to maintain VLOS at any real distance.Secondly people complain about the lack of a real follow me mode. not an issue. Learn to fly and fly it yourself. All in all a great drone. Not as good as phantom 4 Pro obviously but far more portable and further more will be amazing when the new drone categories come in in Jan 2021 All in all super impressive.

This is the second drone I’ve had and is in a completely different league to the Holystone drone I had. The drone is light compact and once you the firm ware updated, it’s very quick to get flying.I had the drone flying around my lounge and the stability of it as it is hovering waiting for you to tell it to do some is amazing.Yes it is pricey compared to others, but you just need to go to YouTube to see the videos. I don’t regret buying this drone, I can’t wait to test it out on Christmas day.Highly recommended. I did my research first before buying it and watched plenty of YouTube videos. Best of all it’s under the 250g weight limit before you need qualifications to legally fly in it some countries, such as the UK, Europe and US.

I’ve owned serveral drones before and they’ve been great but they’ve all been toys.I decided to move to a DJI mini 2 for a few reasons and I’m glad I did. It’s sub 250g so falls under all current and future legislation meaning you have more freedomIt has a 3 axis gimbal which I’ve learned is a must if you want to have stable videoIt has a great quality 4k cameraThere are a lot of improvements over the first mini and I’m sure anyone reading this will have done some research but having seen both fly I can say that the improvements are notable, especially in the wind where the more powerful motors come into their it own.It also weighs less than the first mini. Not by much but mine came in at 239g so you can add small modifications onto the mini 2 without it going over the 249g such as the wrap shown in my picture which only weighs 4g leaving me 5g left to play with for a camera filter or small strobe.I’ve only encountered 1 problem and hopefully this can help at least one person.I flew my drone in some light wind. Well within the drones capabilities but there was wind. I pointed the camera straight down at 90° and the drone started to drift backwards. I tried to bring the drone back but couldn’t. I then raised the camera back up and the drone instantly stopped drifting.I found out that this is due to a reduced power mode that the drone is placed into when the camera is pointing down. Its supposed to be to protect the gimbal but should disable in high winds. Mine did not and it almost cost me my drone. Be Mindful of this and you should be fine.

Lets start with the weight because this is the important bit. In the UK, drones less than 250g can be flown in recreational areas, residential areas, industrial areas and close and over people not involved in your flight. You still need to respect people’s privacy and fly safely but so much less restricted than >250g drones. You do need to get an operator ID which costs £9 a year. You don’t need a flyers ID but it is a free online exam which isn’t rocket science just to ensure you fly safely.Size. It is slightly too big to just put in your pocket but will fit in a jacket pocket or cargo-pants which means you can literally take it with you without the need of a cumbersome bag. It should be noted that under UK law, you have to keep it in line of sight. As soon as you get any great distance, bexause of it’s size, it can be a real bugger to keep your eye on it. Just glancing at the phone on the controller and looking back up, might take a moment to get visual eyes on again.Battery. You get about 23minutes flight time. Occasionally, I think I should have gone for the fly more combo set with the extra batteries but my wife knows that if I’m popping out to do some recording, I generally won’t be long. I can imagine that if you have travelled to some remote location for filming, you will want the extra batteries, especially if you are going to make a day of it. That said, a third party charger that will charge more than one battery at a time may be better than the DJI which charges sequentially.Photo and video quality. Being able to shoot raw is awesome and the film quality is very good. I’ve yet to purchase any ND filters so the 180degree rule is pretty much out of the window in bright conditions.Take off and landing. This really needs a nice flat surface but as long as you don’t face into the wind, you can take off and land by hand. Take off from grass or sand is generally a no no but you can take off and land on a book or magazine until you get the confidence to do it by hand.Sound. It does not record sound but then, it sounds like a swarm of hornets when close. As soon as you get some height, you can no longer hear it.Wind tolerance. This handles wind really quite well. When it encounters wind that pushes it’s tolerance, it will warn you. I’ve not done anything stupid with it but at 14mph winds, it’s quite steady .Controls. Whilst you can tweak the settings for exactly what you are trying to achieve, even on cine mode, it really is quite sensitive, requiring only the slightest movement on the controller. There is a “normal” mode and a sports mode that I have not even tried yet. Whilst it has a downward crash avoidance system, in sport mode, the stopping distance will be further than the system can accommodate so you could theoretically slam it into the ground if you’re not careful.Overall, I’m very impressed with this drone. There is a return to home feature and it will try to return to home if the batteries are running low. That said, I noticed on the drone lost and found site that these drones do get reported missing which means that this feature is not infallible. I think that as long as you are sensible, this drone will pose you no issues. If you take it out in a hurricane or fly it out of your visual line of sight, you may run into problems. I also not that the US drone authority are actively monitoring Youtube for drone footage that breaks their rules and I do not know if the UK aviation authority are doing the same. It’s just easier to follow the rules.
